Daniel Spiro
Daniel believes, as Abraham Joshua Heschel taught, that words create worlds and that moral action in the world is a form of prayer.
Daniel grew up in a traditional Conservative Jewish family that valued Jewish education and literacy. During college, he broke from the organized Jewish world and set off on spiritually-driven adventures—living and working on regenerative farms, visiting and writing about intentional communities, and practicing in Quaker, Sufi, Buddhist, and Taoist circles. These experiences stoked his desire to help reinvigorate the soul of Jewish life. As Director of Content at Lippman Kanfer Foundation for Living Torah, he seeks to help catalyze greater access to and application of the tradition’s best wisdom for living a deep, purposeful, communal life.
Daniel holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Eastern Washington University and a BA in English Literature from Columbia University. Daniel and his wife Ginny — he Jewish, she a fellow traveler — are raising their daughter Jewish, and Daniel strives in his personal life too to creatively contribute to a thriving Jewish future — writing about Jewish life and practice on Substack, creating a gamified Haggadah, and always seeking to deepen his own Jewish learning.
