Ritualwell
Community-Generated Jewish Ritual and Learning
Ritualwell began over 20 years ago as a space for sharing feminist ritual and has grown into a widely-visited platform offering ritual resources for moments of meaning-making. Receiving over half a million annual views, Ritualwell includes extensive online learning and focuses on Jewish learning through writing with a community-generated approach to ritual creation.
Small Group Program: Jewish Writers’ Circles
Ritualwell’s Jewish Writers’ Circles represent a new iteration based on four years of experience with its successful Advot program, transitioning from professional-led online formats to peer-led local communities. It’s hiring 15-20 “community weavers” across the country—experienced Ritualwell teachers who will identify, invite, and launch initial gatherings while cultivating participant leadership.
Ten anticipated groups with 8-10 participants each will meet monthly, launching after the High Holy Days with full sessions starting around January. Groups may pause in summer and regroup in September, creating sustainable rhythms that honor both Jewish calendar cycles and participants’ life patterns.

Writing as Jewish Practice
Ritualwell defines Jewish wisdom as the dynamic, ever-evolving literary, artistic, cultural, and religious canon of the Jewish people across civilizational periods. Its approach views writing itself as a Jewish practice, connecting participants to this tradition while enriching their own creative expression and spiritual lives.
Sessions follow a seven-step template including introduction, advice from Jewish writers, Jewish wisdom exploration, writing prompts, in-session writing time, critical colleagueship feedback, and reflection on next steps. Each 2-hour gathering begins with opening rituals and ends with closing reflections, creating sacred transitions between regular life and creative Jewish exploration.
Collaborative Leadership Development
Community weavers help launch groups and identify potential leaders among participants, fostering shared leadership models like book clubs rather than traditional teacher-student dynamics. Participants pay a small collective fee ($180 total per group) that includes access to national events featuring prominent Jewish writers and discounted admission to in-person convenings.
Peer leaders receive how-to videos for rituals, adaptable session outlines and materials, online gatherings for troubleshooting, and connection to a nationwide network of Jewish writers. This approach ensures groups can function independently while maintaining connection to Ritualwell’s broader community and resources, including opportunities for participants to submit writing for online publication.
