Hadar Community Groups
Empowering Vibrant Jewish Communities Through Traditional Learning
Hadar is an egalitarian yeshiva that breaks down barriers to Jewish learning, making sophisticated Torah, prayer, and acts of kindness accessible to all, regardless of gender identity. Their mission is simple yet revolutionary: empower Jews to create and sustain vibrant, practicing, egalitarian communities rooted in Torah, Avodah, and Chesed.
Small Group Approach: Hadar Community Groups
Hadar believes meaningful Jewish community can flourish anywhere. Through their Community Groups program, they support local leaders in building religious communities aligned with Hadar’s vision, especially in areas beyond their regional reach. With over 100 active groups across 50+ cities and growing to 250 by October, they’re creating a nationwide network of micro-communities.
Each group commits to 8 meaningful sessions, typically meeting monthly or bi-monthly. Hadar provides $500 leader stipends, up to $1,000 in reimbursable expenses, and comprehensive support including facilitator training, curated materials, WhatsApp peer networks, and optional faculty coaching.
Content That Transforms
Groups explore three foundational pillars—Torah (learning), Avodah (prayer and music), and Chesed (service)—through text study, song circles, prayer groups, book clubs, and service projects. Using Hadar’s proven Pedagogy of Partnership model, each session follows a five-part structure: welcome, framing, main activities, and meaningful closure.
Rather than prescriptive curriculum, Hadar offers extensive online resources, divrei Torah, weekly parsha materials, and content for all learning levels. Groups shape their own journey while staying connected to traditional Jewish texts and practices.
Leadership Development
Hadar’s lay leaders aren’t just facilitators—they’re community builders. After required training covering group planning and facilitation skills, leaders receive ongoing support through monthly reflection processes, peer networks, and specialized coaching for specific group types. Hadar tracks progress through Salesforce, ensuring each group receives personalized attention as they create lasting Jewish community.
